First Do No Harm – Hydrangea

I painted this on my computer and had it digitally printed with additional glazes. There are cameo portraits and a seal inserted too.

It’s the story of how the Hydrangea plant came to Britain, and its medicinal properties first discovered by the Cherokee. Near the bottom is the Hippocratic seal- which accompanies the Hippocratic oath of around 500 BCE, still in use today: “First do no harm…”
