So it’s really quite strange learning ‘proper’ painting. I see what I’ve done and have no sense that it comes from my own hand. None at all. However, it does seem to me that I’m making progress in learning to paint like ‘everyone else’. This is a second draft. Once I’ve mastered these techniques, which may take a while because it’s very difficult, I will have earned the right to decide if I want to paint like that. We have the model for three consecutive weeks, so it will change considerably over time. I’m posting it on rather a good day in which I received two interesting commissions for portraits.
