Guest Star
My mother Leslie Caron came with me to the life drawing club yesterday, and her charming drawing in charcoal and Conté white is making a guest appearance here. She has not drawn for thirty years or so, but she used to paint quite a lot, and I have a beautiful painting by her hanging on my wall at home.
She finished this sketch with a flourish, stepped back to see what she had done and shrieked ’mais elle est unijambiste! ‘ She’d forgotten to draw the second leg.
Leslie Caron’s autobiography Thank Heaven has just been published in French and the English version can be found here:

Your Mother is a treasure. Everyone should read her autobiography, what a life. You must be very proud of her and she of you.
