Draw Club 8

Posted in Painting Diary with tags , , , on July 31, 2010 by Jenny

Today at Drawing Club we had a new model. He’s going to pose for us over the course of 3 weeks.

This means we can work over a longer period using oil paints. I’ve never used oils before, so this week I justĀ used my water soluble pencils and pastels, and next week I’ll take the plunge and buy some oils.

So I guess this is (part of ) a sketch before I embark on my first oil painting. Embarking is the right word: from the Italian ‘barca’ meaning ship. I’m sailing into new territory !

Nude + Beach

I can’t stop thinking about the beach, the sea, and heading back there as soon as possible.

Here is the same two minute sketch from my last visit to the Life Drawing Club to which I’ve added waves at the shoreline.

The sketch is a pencil drawing which I scanned and then painted over digitally.

Sketch – kneeling nude

This was one of the two minute sketches at Life Drawing Club last Saturday. I looked at it again today, and though its proportions are skewed I think it expresses what I was seeing properly.

Sometimes I see so many different hints of styles in my pictures. One thing seems constant though: I think they all look quite French. I guess I am.
