In honour of Glastonbury, where The Edge just played ‘Where the Streets Have no Name’ with Muse, I made this Parsley Portrait.

Life Drawing 4

I bought two new types of pastels on my way to the Life Drawing Club. This was my fourth visit, and first I used oil pastels.

I really like them. They’re deliciously bright and messy, and they don’t smudge very easily.

I tried it again using new chalky pastels, in my white sketchpad. I find these pastels harder to use – too easy to smudge with the side of the hand.

Avenue of Limes

Posted in Digital Art, iPhone Art, Painting Diary with tags , , , on June 7, 2010 by Jenny

At last, after almost a week, I’ve had time to paint again. Back to my iPhone where I mostly paint what comes from my imagination, rather than from life. It’s restorative, who knows why, to paint like this.

Lime flower tea cleans furry arteries. It’s an amazingly friendly thing to do. Visually, an avenue of Limes somehow makes one think the world is going to be alright. Everything in order, but gently so.

And symbolically, I think of S. T. Coleridge. ‘This Lime Tree Bower My Prison” which he wrote to Charles Lamb.
